The Language Teachers website came from humble beginnings in 2001, as a way for university friends to share their resources during education practica. Realising the possibilities of an online collaboration of language teachers, the site gained increased support, with hundreds of teachers visiting each week from a diverse range of countries, language and educational backgrounds. After some neglect during 2006, the website reemerged in mid 2007 with a new look and a new direction. The site aims to be a comprehensive blend of practical resources, teacher interaction and information about language education. The site's creator and manager is Shannon Mason, whose interests include teacher networking, and technology as a tool for teaching, learning and planning. Shannon has taught Japanese in public primary schools in Australia, and English in both private English schools, and in the tertiary sector in Japan. Outside of education, Shannon loves travelling, dining out, karaoke, tennis, dancing, and occasionally playing a few chords on the guitar.
